Packing Extractor
The removable tips of our flexible shaft extractors deliver multipurpose capabilities for time and cost savings. Our corkscrew bit provides easy extraction for fibrous packings. When removing hardened packing, the woodscrew bit is a suitable option.
In mechanical engineering and industrial processes, a “gland packing extractor” refers to a tool used to remove gland packing material from pumps, valves, or other equipment where gland packing is utilized for sealing rotating shafts or stems against leakage. Gland packing is a braided or otherwise formed material that’s installed around shafts to prevent fluid leaks while allowing the shaft to rotate freely. Over time, gland packing may need to be replaced, and an extractor would be used to facilitate this process without damaging the shaft or surrounding components.
